What could be better then Viggo Mortensen and a post apocalyptic world? In this sci fi tale, a man and his son, actually known as The Man and The Boy, are trying to escape the deadly cold winter by traveling south. Their trail is fraught with thieves and killers, all fighting to survive as much as these two are. Their destination is unknown to them, but they fight to find a better life, as best life can be in the newly destroyed world.
Viggo Mortensen keeps his rough good guy appeal in this movie by playing The Man, a man fighting to keep his son safe and to find a better place for both of them to be. Famous for Lord of the Rings, another epic journey movie, Mortensen takes the part to heart and keeps the audience on their edge of their seats. With only a two bullet gun to defend his family, Mortensen keeps the action and suspense alive with his action packed skills.
Adapted from the novel written by Cormac McCarthy, who also penned All the Pretty Horses and No Country for Old Men, The Road delivers the same Oscar Worthy appeal as the author’s previously adapted works. Well developed into the human psyche of survival, the Road brings our very fears alive in what it would be like to live that life, a life in a hurt world, a life when all of the things we take for granted are gone.
Along with Mortensen comes a star studded cast including Charlise Theron, Robert Duvall, Guy Pearce and Molly Parker.
